15.2% increase in output due to
reliable reduction in cooling time
Smart Plastify has replaced the fixed cooling time with state-based demolding approval using Moldsonics.
The component is opened when it is physically ready—not only after a safety buffer expires.
Cooling time
30 s → 14–15 s
Cycle Time
103.8 s → 88 s
Output

CHALLENGE
Cooling time is the parameter that no one touches anymore.
It is set with a safety margin during sample approval. Years later, the production department continues to pay for this margin—because reducing it seems risky: delays, scrap, and customer complaints.
SOLUTION
Moldsonics detects when the part is truly ready.
The sensor detects the physical moment of demolding in the mold. The cooling time is controlled based on the current state; the fixed time remains only as a safety limit.
Measured during production.
Before
– Fixed cooling time: 30 s
– Cycle time: 103.8 s
– Hidden safety buffer
– Reduced cooling time = risk
Afterward
✓ State-based cooling time: 15 s
✓ Cycle time: 88 s
✓ Defined safety window
✓ Reduced cooling time = controlled increase in output
+15.2% increase in output per machine
THIS IS RELEVANT WHEN
They suspect that there is a hidden cooling buffer.
– The cooling time was set at the time of sampling and has not been adjusted since then.
– Thick-walled parts limit your cycle time.
– Operators avoid shortening the cooling time because the risk of scrap is unclear.
– Variations in materials or processes require safety margins.
